EBC celebrated its 39th founding anniversary By God's grace, EBC has reached the age of 39 years old. The Church celebrated joyously its 39th anniversary last February 12 at the EBC Sanctuary. The worship service was moved to the afternoon where a big crowd came. The brethren from EBC's daughter churches came as well as from other churches in Los Banos. The guest keynote speaker was Pastor Ed de Guzman. He spoke about what God is doing in our midst especially in the context of current political and economic life of the nation. The Church thanked God for allowing it to attain this ripe age of 39, and the Church expects to do more in the coming years. EBC's theme for the year is '2008: The Year of Fruitfulness'. Young people's trip to Lingayen and Baguio

More than 2.5 million people in the Philippines were severely affected by a big typhoon. Thousands badly need food, shelter and clothes.

As of October 2, 2009 6 a.m., the Philippine National Disaster Coordinating Council said more than half a million families of 2.50 million individuals have been affected by Typhoon Ondoy in 11 regions, including Metro Manila and the Calabarzon area in southern Luzon. A total of 686,699 people are now staying in 726 evacuation centers. The death toll has reached 277 and 42 were still missing.

Five children died due to texting while driving

City ordinances are beginning to be passed as an outgrowth of the crash last summer in the Finger Lakes region of New York State, USA, in which five teenage girls riding in a sport utility vehicle died. A police investigation revealed that the driver’s cellphone was being used to send text messages at the time of the accident, in which her car swerved into oncoming traffic and collided with a tractor-trailer.
